Our expanded clay aggregate is fired from natural clay at high temperatures and then sieved to 8–16 mm . The porous surface stores water, while the spherical shape provides a excellent air circulation is possible – perfect for hydroponics, Succulent drainage layers or as a loose admixture to Potting soil.

Application recommendation

  • Drainage layer: 2–3 cm of expanded clay on the bottom of the pot, then soil on top.
  • Hydroculture: Place the plant in expanded clay and use a water level indicator.
  • To loosen the soil: Mix 10–30% expanded clay into heavy potting soil.
  • Decorative layer: Sprinkle 1 cm of balls on top of the substrate – reduces evaporation.
